The Beginning

This is a two step process. Some night next week a group of my friends and I are going to sit around my TV in my small apartment and watch a documentary about the genocide in Darfur called The Devil Came on Horseback. (Click to go check it out on Imdb). After we watch the movie I'll bring all my art supplies out and we'll all respond with either art or writing to what we've seen.
I'll then begin posting our work on this blog, and also make tons of copies and start dispursing them throughout the city of Burlington. I'm going to leave the pages of art and writing with information about this website in Muddy Waters, Uncommon Grounds, Maglienero's, Nunyan's bakery and cafe, the library, and wherever else I can think of.
My vision is for people to find these bits of art and writing and have their curiousity piqued. They will come to this website and learn about the genocides maybe they never knew about, or did know, but not enough. Then they will respond in turn, and spread the word throughout their towns, cities, and lives. My vision is that in this small way, more peoples eyes will be opened up to what's going on in the world while they go through their daily lives. More people will be willing to speak up and say no, this is not right, this can not be. It's a fight against genocide, and a fight against ignorance. It's a fight we all can take.
